Requirements for studying in Australia

Eligibility criteria​

  1. Applicants for diploma-level courses must achieve a grade point average of at least 60% in their Class 12 exams.

  2. Students who wish to pursue bachelor's degrees must get a grade point average of 65 percent or above on their Class 12 exams.

  3. For admittance into postgraduate programs, all Australian universities recognize the 3-year graduation degree. For example, Indian bachelor's degrees such as B. Sc, B.A., and B. Com are equivalent to a 12-year Australian bachelor's degree.

  4. Qualifications equivalent to Australian Bachelor (Honors) degrees may be required by some universities and programs. Types of Post-Study Work Permits in Australia

  • Work Stream for Graduates

International students who have completed the Australian Study Requirements and have an applicable qualification, as well as skills relevant to occupations on the Skills Occupation List, are eligible for the Graduate Work Stream (SOL). Students who apply for a Vocational Education and Training qualification at one of the TAFE institutes would be eligible for this. This visa is valid for a period of 18 months.

  • Post Study Work Flow

International students who have completed the Australian Study Requirements and obtained a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree from a recognized Australian university are eligible for the Post Study Work Stream. Only students who applied for and were granted a student visa for Australia on or after November 5, 2011, are eligible for this visa. The length of your tenure is determined by the type of degree you hold.

A bachelor's degree, a bachelor's honors degree, or a master's course degree (a degree without a related industrial training) is valid for two years, for example. A master's degree in research qualifies you for a three-year Temporary Visa, whereas a doctor's degree qualifies you for a five-year Temporary Visa.
